Mk1 Mazda MX-5 Project Updates
This is my 1997 Mk1 Mazda MX-5 that I picked up in April ‘22 which is my daily car.
With this project I intend to rework it to become OEM+ and keep the stock reliability with some modern day comforts.
Restoration of both front and rear suspension
When I bought this car the previous owner had lowered it by 3 inches making it unsuitable to be used as a daily driver. Because of this, I decided to return the car to its standard ride height. I also realised that because its age, the bushings were beginning to perish and thus needed replacing, so I bought a kit to do this alongside new suspension components and figured it would be worth restoring the suspension arms as I intend to keep this car for a long time.

Radiator Replacement
A common issue on early MX-5’s is that the plastic of the radiator becomes brittle over time and can fail. To prevent this I decided to change out my original radiator to a full aluminium radiator.
Whilst replacing the radiator, I also changed out the thermostat as it’s easier to replace it now than further down the line when it fails.
As this was a used radiator the wiring of the fans was also a bit damaged and so that was repaired as well.
